Dr. Hector D. Allende is a graduate of the National University of Cordoba Medical School in Argentina.He completed his internal medicine training at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, in Long Island, New York and the New York Medical College in New York. Dr. Allende completed his Gastroenterology fellowship at The University of Rochester, Rochester, New York and followed this with additional training at the NIADDK, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland under the direction of both Dr. Jerry Gardner and Dr. Dennis Jensen working on peptide related gastrointestinal syndromes (Zollinger-Ellison, VIP, MEN, etc).
Dr. Allende has authored medical papers published in major peer-reviewed journals and magazines, he was an instructor in medicine at the University of Rochester, an Associate Physician at the NIADDK, and he participated in numerous clinical research studies. He is a member of numerous professional associations including but not limited to the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology and American Gastroenterology Association. Dr. Allende has held the post of Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff and Medical Director of Endoscopy Services at various institutions in San Antonio, Texas and since 2003 he has been the Medical Director and managing partner of GAB Endoscopy Center Ltd., a free-standing ambulatory JCO certified and Medicare approved facility.
Other interests of Dr. Allende’s include reading reference type literature, painting, fly fishing, and since he cannot play soccer any longer he does yoga to stay fit.
Dr. Hector D. Allende and Dr. K.P. Ganeshappa joined their individual medical practices in 1995 to form DDC of South Texas, pllc.
